Seminaris Hotels sets new standards in employee recruitment and retention

September 13, 2023

Woman is crying

Seminaris Hotels presents an innovative recruiting campaign and shows how to meet the biggest challenges currently facing the hospitality industry.

The hotel industry enjoys exceeding occupancy rates in the hotel industry, but at the same time the need for skilled workers is growing. As early as mid-2021, the number of newly advertised jobs on platforms such as Hotelcareer & Gastrojobs reached record levels.

This illustrates how crucial successful recruiting is for the industry. Only those who have the right people on their side can operate successfully and in the long term.

In addition to ensuring a flexible and, above all, plannable working day, professional balance and security in fluctuating times, talent development, i.e. the personal development of employees, and their opportunities to help shape and contribute play a major role when it comes to attractiveness in the workplace. This is also confirmed by a survey conducted by Statista. Seminaris has already addressed the changing needs of its employees in 2019 and, on the basis of visionary questions, fundamentally changed its mindset and attitude toward employee recruitment and retention:

  • What if we not only promote our employees professionally, but also support their personal development so that they see adaptability as an opportunity and not as a constraint?
  • What if our employees can go beyond themselves, not only for us, but also for themselves?
  • And what if terminations are not the end but the beginning of a new chapter – regardless of whether it is written in our company or not?

Rightly so, the group was already honored in 2022 for its innovative, holistic HR strategy approaches with the Hospitality HR Award from the German Hotel Academy and the Hotel Innovation Award from 196+ Events. Today, Seminaris Hotels shows with their provocative but very inspiring recruiting campaign the open attitude towards talent acquisition they have developed, how it leads to success and increases their attractiveness and also personal satisfaction as an employer. These are real stories of two employees that are reflected in the campaign through the actors Zoe and Peer. Two employees who have not only grown professionally, but are also pursuing their personal dreams. These stories are not only inspiring, but also at the core of Seminaris Hotels’ vision: “We make people grow.”

“Our approach is designed to inspire not only the hotel industry, but other industries as well,” emphasizes Jochen Swoboda, CEO at Seminaris Hotels. “It’s about finding and promoting people, offering space above all for personal development and being a reliable travel companion on the way to a working world in which new, shared and personal dreams for the future want to be realized, even beyond one’s own company.”

This also gave the occasion for the complete reorientation of the company’s own conference offering toward becoming a service provider for New Work Services. Here, too, Seminaris recognized early on that the classic model of conference hotels is disruptive and has already taken a pioneering role in 2019 in the creation of new working worlds that encourage its own employees, as well as those of its customers, to grow, learn and realize their dreams.
